Staff Surveys

Many organisations find that using purpose-made surveys to carry out "spot checks" on staff perceptions of their organisation is an effective and efficient way to ensure that policies and procedures are working well. Using an external organisation such as 6S consulting ensures confidentiality (thus obtaining a higher response rate and more reliable data than an in-house survey, where staff may feel less willing to reply with their true views). In addition, 6S consulting has expertise in design, implementation and analysis of survey results that may not be available using internal staff.

Typical surveys carried out by consultants working with 6S have answered issues which included:

  • Staff views of their working relationships with other departments
  • How staff view the marketing strategies of the company
  • What staff feel about the products they offer to customers
  • Whether staff are aware of the business goals and how relevant they feel these are
  • How effective staff feel the internal communications processes are
  • Whether the internal appraisal process is being implemented effectively
  • How the company personnel policies might be improved
  • If staff consider that they are involved in helping the organisation to define and meet its goals

In all cases the analysis presented to the client has helped to redefine and improve the way that the organisation operates. Clients have included:

Because each survey is designed to meet the unique needs of our clients and the results are presented in a format that is agreed in advance, the fees for each client vary. However in a typical example, our work will cover:

  • Initial meeting to agree aims and time scale (free)
  • Questionnaire design and survey plan for approval by client (One and a half days)
  • Production and distribution of questionnaires (One and a half days)
  • Collection and analysis of responses (Depends on size of survey)
  • Production of results in report format agreed in advance (One and a half days - depends of size of survey)
  • Recommendations for action and presentation of results (One day)

Data can be gathered by paper, email, phone, face-to-face interviews individually, in groups or a combination of any of these methods.
