Benchmark Index

A number of benchmarking organisations and initiatives exist. Of these, the Benchmark Index in one of the most comprehensive. Using a computer-based system, it provides the objective results and expert human support that enable companies to implement new and effective business strategies. There are over 100 questions measuring business performance in areas covering not just financial results, but perhaps more importantly the drivers that have led to those results. Additional modules are also available covering very specific aspects of your business, such as marketing, and for specific sectors such as construction and manufacturing.

There are four basic steps to the benchmark process...

Step 1 - Gathering Information
The first step is filling in the questionnaire(s), by answering a series of quantitative and qualitative questions. The process is facilitated by one of our experienced business advisors, who is on hand to help with any questions.

Step 2 - Comparing & Understanding
With the help of the advisor, you select the organisations against which your business will be benchmarked. The advisor transmits all the data to a secure database, which immediately generates the Benchmark Index report. This report provides comprehensive and quantifiable performance indicators, highlighting the company's strengths and weaknesses against those of the comparison group chosen.

Step 3 - Analysing the Information
A preliminary analysis is carried out by the advisor with the aim of starting to identify the key improvement areas that the business should focus on. The report is considered alongside the advisor's prior knowledge of the organisation and its vision for the future.

Step 4 - Implementation
Armed with the report, our advisor visits your company and together you review the results. This process is invaluable and provides the catalyst for change and improvement. A clear action plan is developed to ensure that strategic decisions are implemented on a controlled and systematic basis.

Following agreement of the action plan, 6S can support you in bringing about the improvements you want or can signpost you to further services available, for example from the DTI.
